The 1998 model year is especially notable for ACR color choices, as it was the first year the Neon ACR could be ordered in PB3 Intense Blue and PS4 Bright Platinum. These additions, combined with carryover shades, make 1998 ACR coupes and sedans especially interesting for color-code and option-code collectors.
1998 also marks the final year that Neon ACR coupes were produced at Chrysler’s Belvidere Assembly Plant, adding another layer of interest for enthusiasts tracking plant, body style and color combinations.
Like other late first-generation ACRs, the 1998 Neon ACR was built as a lightweight, competition-focused package with minimal power options and no exterior ACR badging. Factory ACR equipment included adjustable Koni struts, thicker sway bars, stiffer bushings, 4-wheel disc brakes without ABS, and a shorter-ratio gearbox for improved autocross and road-race performance.
